Roosevelt Park Offline Storage (OLS) Facility

Why is Buffalo Sewer doing this project?

Buffalo Sewer is dedicated to reducing combined sewer overflows (CSOs) to improve water quality in our local waterways. A new underground storage tank is being installed in Roosevelt Park to temporarily hold excess sewage and rainwater during wet weather events. This reduces the frequency of untreated CSOs entering Buffalo’s creeks and rivers, safeguarding public health and preserving the environment. This project also will comply with environmental regulations, contributing to a cleaner and healthier Buffalo for everyone.

What is included in this project?

Kay Street/Edison Avenue between Millicent and Martha Avenues:

Installation of a new underground sewer structure underneath the roadway and manholes in the road.

– Temporary noise will occur. Noise barriers will be used to absorb sound. Work will be limited to the hours between 7:00 am and 5:00 pm.

– No noticeable odors are expected during construction.

– A road detour for Edison Avenue between Millicent and Martha Avenues is expected, but we will maintain temporary access for residents and facilities, post detours with clear signage, and share updates on our website and social media.

– We are coordinating with the Charter School of Inquiry to keep bus, car, bike, and pedestrian access open.

Will my service be affected?

Sewer service interruptions are unlikely to occur during construction of this project.

How is this work being funded?
